The books tell the adventures of Mae, Theo, and Oliver, whose magical pocket watch takes them to unexpected places, and helps to solve scientific mysteries in a race against time.
The first book in the series, “Archimedes and the Adventure in the Backyard”, is enriched with fascinating facts as well as links to original animated videos and home experiments.
And that’s not all! The book’s front cover comes to life in 3D augmented reality on your device’s camera!

Who is the Real Scientist
Hi, my name is Carmel. An entrepreneur, an educator, and an entertainer (not necessarily in that order). I live in London with my wife and two sweet and curious children.
I find myself fascinated by science in all its forms (physics, astronomy, chemistry, biology, etc.), as well as the history of mankind and the universe.
I came up with the character “The Fictional Scientist” through which I interactively and entertainingly teach the future generation contents and values I believe in, from science and history, through environmental sustainability to accepting the differences in society.
Who is the Fictional Scientist?
The fictional scientist, Carmelius, is my alter ego.
He invents revolutionary fantastic devices that will change the world. Their wonders are presented in his science shows.
The fictional scientist sparks love for science in children and incorporates the S.T.E.A.M method, through Steampunk and magic.
What is STEAM Education?
STEAM is a learning approach that combines the fields: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths.
What is Steampunk?
Imagine the world today in a 19th-century setting, mainly dominated by cogs, copper pipes, and a lot of steam.
Carmelius puts the STEAM (learning) in steampunk.
